Pinschers are extremely affectionate and will want to sleep with you at
night and cuddle with you on the couch. They are not dogs who will sit quietly by while you go about your business, they want to be a part of your business. They are eager to please their owners and normally do well in obedience and even agility! But, they can be stubborn and do know how to train their people well to get what they want with those expressive eyes and cute little face. (grinning/smiling is common) |

| more kid-friendly info: | Not good with children, especially if not raised with them. Fast movement and high-pitched sounds trigger fast instinctive response. | |
| limiting disorders: | vaccination sensitive (anaphalactic shock) | |
| non-limiting disorders: | Eye problems as they age, sometimes hip problems, possible allergies (especially sensitive to lepto shots), von Wildebrans (hemophelia in dogs) | |
| breed quirks: | high prey drive, wary of strangers, pushy and demanding of attention (jealous of other dogs or family members). GPs were bred to be guard (not attack) dogs and vermin killers. They want to be with their people *all* the time. GPs can do well in apartments as long as they are walked often. Young GPs, typically under 2 years of age, are *extremely* high-energy and require a lot of attention and interaction (socialization). | |
